Deborah Williams is a keen observer of the world of the dog. Her artistic perspectives have been broadened by frequent travels to remote places where she has explored culturally relative attitudes to both owning pets and abandonment. Observing dogs in their own environments with a singular perspective in contexts and sometimes difficult circumstances, she sees dogs differently. Her canine subjects are captured in the moment, untethered by leash or love, in command of the immediate place in his or her world. She sees the dog as dog. Deborah Wiiliams has held regular solo exhibitions since 1993 and participated in numerous group exhibitions within Australia and overseas. She is currently completing a Masters at the National Art School, Sydney and works at RMIT within the Visual Arts TAFE program teaching Printmaking.
